a dedicated Business Risk and Controls Advisor Lead, you will
drives -risk-awareness and the overall effectiveness of risk and
compliance management programs, risk analytics, investor
requirements -and operations in the business. This role will
partner and collaborate with Legal, -Compliance and Risk
Management, as well as Business Operations, IT, Audit Services, and
Regulators to support risk and compliance-based initiatives through
QAQC transactional testing. Responsible for supporting business
leader adherence to the established risk framework and ongoing
supervision of business controls; including, risk and control
self-assessments, identification and evaluation of control
effectiveness, identifying control failures, facilitating risk and
compliance remediation, internal and external audits and regulatory
exams, and monitoring of the first line of defense to minimize risk
exposures and strengthen the overall control environment. Manages
risk assessment data and uses critical thinking to identify key
data-driven insights tied to first line of defense risk mitigation
activities.We offer a flexible work environment that requires an
individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can
be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX,
Phoenix, AZ, or Tampa, FL.Relocation assistance is not available
for this position.What you'll do:
- Direct and lead all aspects of multiple initiatives in support
of risk and/or regulatory compliance related initiatives including
but not limited to: oversight of procedures/process, accurate
regulatory reporting and filing, document governance, risk control
self-assessments, procedure governance, control design, new product
controls, Company or Staff Agency Third Party Governance, or
quality governance.
- Apply a comprehensive understanding of risk and regulatory
compliance to include business strategies and solutions.
- Responsible for first line of defense data analysis, report
preparation and trend analysis, using business intelligence
tools.
- Design solutions for unanswered business questions and
anticipates future business needs.
- Direct, organize and coordinate action plans designed to
enhance governance practices in alignment with frameworks.
- Influence and develop innovative solutions to mitigate risk and
prevent risk exposures which result in significant business
impacts.
- Lead the most complex projects involving cross-functional areas
within the first line of defense.
- Define and outline new approaches to problem resolution and
leads project team from concept through implementation.
- Advise senior management on the status of their control
environment related to Risk identification and control
weaknesses.
- Identify critical areas to monitor and raise issues and
findings to appropriate partners.
- Serve as a primary resource to cross functional team members
and advise on risk mitigation opportunities.
- Stay informed of changes to the regulatory environment to
ensure proper compliance with processes and requirements are
followed.
- Ensure risks associated with business activities are
identified, measured, and controlled in accordance with policies
and procedures.What you have:
- Bachelor's degree: OR 4 years of related experience (in
addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be
substituted in lieu of degree.
- Minimum 8 years' experience supporting risk-related, compliance
related, or business control design activities; OR 8 years'
experience in a relevant quantitative field; OR Advanced degree or
designation in a risk management or quantitative field, and 6
years' experience supporting risk-related, and/or
compliance-related, or business control design activities; OR PhD
in a risk management or quantitative field, and 4 years' experience
supporting risk-related, and/or compliance-related, or business
control design activities.
- Knowledge of federal laws, rules, regulations, and applicable
guidance to area supported for example: OCC Heightened Standards,
BSA/AML, REG E, UDAAP/UDAP, TILA/REG Z, SCRA, FCRA, MLA.What sets
you apart:
- 15 years' experience in the financial services industry.
- 5 years' experience in QAQC transactional testing.
- Strong critical thinking, innate curiosity, attention to
detail, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with
business and control partners including effective written and
verbal communication and collaboration to influence change.
- Recent large scale project management experience.
- Experience with reporting tools like Business Objects and
Tableau a plus.
- Recent experience with using and administrating ACES quality
management software a plus.
- Experience analyzing and testing Mortgage, Consumer Lending
and/or Credit Card regulatory and investor requirements a
plus.
- Current or former Business Risk and Controls experience a
plus.
- Expertise working with large scale cloud-based data warehousing
platforms like Snowflake that allows users to store, analyze, and
share data securely a plus.
- Technology certifications like certified SAFe Agilist (SA) a
plus.Compensation range: The salary range for this position is:
$127,310.00 - $229,160.00.USAA does not provide visa sponsorship

effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges
to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary
