Job Description:
SOLON Corporation, a leader in the design and installation of
commercial and utility-scale solar photovoltaic systems in the
Southwest United States, is seeking an experienced Traveling
Assistant Superintendent - Civil/Mechanical to join its team. The
Assistant Superintendent will help lead and manage field crews and
construction activities on SOLON's projects. RESPONSIBILITIES This
position requires up to 100% travel to job sites located in the
Southwest United States. Per diem, accommodations, and visits home
are paid for by the company. Under the direction of the General
Superintendent, lead and direct the daily operations of the
company, including managing Mechanical Foremen, Crew Chiefs,
installation crews, and subcontractors. Ensure all company work is
completed within established safety, quality, schedule, and
profitability standards. Monitor job site safety production and
adjust activities as needed to ensure the safe and efficient
performance of all work. Lead detailed project and activity
planning efforts to ensure the safe and efficient execution of
project tasks. Assist with the management and coordination of
project equipment, materials, manpower, subcontractors, and
suppliers. Assist with the execution of project work when the need
arises, including operating tools and equipment and installing
materials. Interface with project clients and stakeholders to
effectively coordinate and communicate construction activities.
Coordinate with company project management and engineering staff as
needed to ensure the timely and accurate flow of information to
field personnel. Assist with project kick-off and closeout efforts
as needed. Ensure accurate and timely completion and processing of
all project field documentation. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS Education and Experience 8+ years of
demonstrated success in a construction supervisory role within the
commercial, industrial, or heavy civil construction industry. 10+
years of commercial or utility-scale solar experience desired.
Ability to effectively lead and direct crews with varying levels of
skill and experience. Must be a natural leader and organizer who
leads by example and sets the pace for those around them. Must be a
natural 'builder' with a strong work ethic. Thorough knowledge of
all applicable federal and local safety regulations. Thorough
knowledge of local and national building codes and standards. Other
Competencies and Requirements Must be very detail-oriented and able
to manage multiple project commitments. Must possess strong skills
in strategic planning and scheduling. Must have efficient project
forecasting and future planning capabilities. Must have solid
analytical problem-solving abilities and confident decision-making
skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including proficiency in
MS Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to travel up to 100% for both
in and out-of-state projects. WORKING CONDITIONS The work can be
physically demanding, working frequently in an outdoor environment
in a variety of weather and working conditions. May be subjected to
extreme weather conditions and terrain as well as physical
circumstances involving extensive climbing, lifting, bending, and
working in confined spaces. Requires weekday and, possibly weekend
work on assigned sites and performing work supporting those
assigned sites. Assigned sites may also require travel, overnight
or extended stays. Sites typically are in the Southwestern United
