  • Job Details
  • Pediatric / MST is a mixed unit of adult & pediatric patients.
  • The ratio of adults and pediatric patients vary and at times there are more adults than pediatric patients.
  • Must be willing to care for adult and pediatric patients.
  • Float to the MST unit on EC to care for adult MST patients, if the census on the pediatric/MST unit drops.
  • # of beds: 10
  • Ratios: PEDIATRICS 1:3-4, MST 1:5
  • Common diagnoses/Types of patients include surgical and medical cases.
    • Job Requirements
    • Experience working with children is required.
    • Must take care of adults as well.
    • Must take and pass the dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing contract.
      • Schedule Information
      • 12-hour shifts, 0700/1900 - 1930/0730
      • Weekend Requirement: every other weekend, Friday and Saturday for Nights, Saturday and Sunday for dayshift.
      • Holiday rotation to distribute holidays fairly.
      • If low census, staff rotates standby turns.
        • Unit Specific Information
        • Unit/Department specific orientation: Attend hospital orientation, unit orientation based on experience; will work both peds and adult MST.
          • Additional Details
          • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS & PALS.
          • Charge RN manages 50 inpatient beds that include MST, PEDS, & our Acuity Adaptable MCU unit which admits ICU/PCU/MST.
          • RNs do need to be able to read their Tele strips.
