experienced and strategic Head of Payroll Operations to lead and
transform our payroll department. The ideal candidate will have a
proven track record in building and optimizing payroll operating
models, ensuring compliance, and driving scalability. This position
will be based in a hybrid capacity (2-3 days a week) at our Home
Office in Gilbert, AZ.Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement a scalable payroll operating model that
aligns with our company's growth trajectory while maintaining
compliance with wage and hour regulations.
- Establish comprehensive quality control measures for
pre-payroll, during-payroll, and post-payroll processes to ensure
error-free processing.
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing, including calculating
wages, overtime, and employee deductions.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance payroll
efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Lead and mentor a team of payroll professionals, fostering a
culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and IT departments to integrate
payroll systems and processes effectively.
- Stay abreast of changing payroll regulations and best
practices, implementing necessary updates to ensure ongoing
compliance.Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of direct leadership experience in payroll
management.
- Demonstrated success in building and optimizing payroll
operating models from the ground up.
- Proven experience in leading the implementation and
optimization of payroll systems, including end-to-end management of
system upgrades, integrations, and process improvements.
- In-depth knowledge of key federal, multi-state, and local
payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex
payroll data and provide strategic insights.
- Excellent project management skills with a track record of
implementing large-scale payroll initiatives.
- Proficiency in payroll software systems and a willingness to
adapt to new technologies.Additional Responsibilities
- Generate and analyze payroll reports for senior management,
providing insights on labor costs and financial metrics.
- Manage relationships with external payroll vendors and service
providers.
- Ensure data integrity and confidentiality of all
payroll-related information.
- Conduct regular payroll audits to maintain accuracy and
compliance.
- Address and resolve complex payroll issues promptly and
efficiently.While degrees and certifications are valued, the
candidate's overall experience and proven success in building and
managing payroll operations will be the primary factors in
determining suitability for this role.The ideal candidate will
combine technical expertise with strategic vision, demonstrating
the ability to not only manage existing processes but also innovate
